My First Tropical Vacation Was in Greece

October 8th, 2017 by

How about a tropical vacation? That was the question my wife asked me. I asked her where, and I was a little bit sarcastic and said, “On a Greek island in the Mediterranean?” Se responded with an emphatic, “Yes!” Well, I was a bit dumbfounded not knowing if she was serious or sarcastic about my sarcasm. So, she took me by the hand and showed me https://mykonosestates.com on her tablet. The clear blue skies and the sunshine got my attention right away. Oh, it was sunny at home, but the temperature outside was 18 degrees Fahrenheit. The ground was frozen solid, and there was a foot of snow covering everything. Yes, a vacation on a Greek island in the Med sounded great!

We actually quickly recruited some friends and family to go with us for a week. There was one villa not currently booked for a week, so we took it. It had room for eight guests, so we split the costs and this made a tropical vacation in the middle of winter very affordable to us. Continue reading “My First Tropical Vacation Was in Greece” »

Using a Payday Loan when Money is Really Tight

February 18th, 2016 by

I am a strong believer that you pay your own way as much as you can. Don’t get me wrong, I also believe that people deserve help when times are tough. I also believe that you should not take advantage of something. I do not care if it is public assistance or credit, you should be responsible and smart. For example, my wife and I have used a Payday Loan twice in the last year. We know some folks who do it regularly. The interest is higher on such loans, because folks like us do not have the best credit. Continue reading “Using a Payday Loan when Money is Really Tight” »

Amazon Game Studios unveiled, first title revealed

February 1st, 2016 by

by Anna Roberts

Mammoth online retailer Amazon is stretching out into video game development, with a focus on free-to-play, social games. Its first release is titled Living Classics, a Facebook game that looks to appeal to the pre-teen audience.

In Living Classics, the aim is for the player to click on moving objects within scenes from classic children’s stories including Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz. There are also Wild West, Ancient Greece, and other themed scenes to explore. The quicker and more accurately you click on the moving objects, the higher your score. Also hidden around the levels are foxes – find these for extra points.

Living Classics contains all the usual elements you’ll find in Facebook games: limited energy that only replenishes after certain amounts of time, constant invitations to share your progress with friends and advantages from having your friends play along, too. The target audience appears to be the under 10s, which doesn’t match up at all with the age requirement for Facebook accounts – thirteen. To have a go at the game for yourself, head on over to the Living Classics Facebook app.

Amazon is hiring further games developers so expect more releases later in the year.

Do you think this is a good move by Amazon?

LittleBigPlanet Karting release date revealed and new gameplay trailer unveiled

February 1st, 2016 by

by Anna Roberts

LittleBigPlanet Karting is coming to a PlayStation 3 near you in November! Sony has announced the date you can get your hands on the next addition to Sackboy’s universe, and they’ve also given us some video snippets of the different game modes we’ll be able to experience upon release.

LittleBigPlanet Karting will release on November 6 in North America, November 7 in Europe and November 9 in the U.K. and Ireland.

The LittleBigPlanet racing spinoff still focuses on user-created content and the multiplayer experience, and if the game modes showcased in the trailer are anything to go by, it looks to be as ridiculously fun as LBP and LBP2.

Sony has also set-up a pre-order page – take a look here. Which of the game modes in the trailer catch your eye the most?

producers at Warner Bros

February 1st, 2016 by

by Andrew Sims

Following the success of one brick-heavy franchise, Warner Bros. is moving to another. A Minecraft movie is in the works after rights were secured by the studio.

Deadline reports that Warner Bros. has acquired the film rights to the Minecraft franchise from the game’s developer, Mojang AB. Interestingly, the film is being billed as a live action project. The Minecraft video game has built its brand around the 8-bit design.

The Lego Movie producer Roy Lee is back to produce this project for WB.

The Minecraft game has seen tremendous success over the past couple of years and has spawned merchandise, endless pop culture references, and now a feature length film. The game – in which users operate an open world and can create whatever they can virtually imagine – has over 100 million users, which obviously means there would be a lot of interest in a film adaptation.

Markus Persson, the creator of the video game, tweeted about the news earlier today and appeared to be a little disappointed that he wasn’t the one to announce the news:

Someone is trying leak the fact that were working with Warner Brothers on a potential Minecraft Movie. I wanted to be the leak!

– Markus Persson (@notch) February 27, 2015

It’s worth noting that a Kickstarter-funded movie based on the Minecraft world was in development thanks to Freddiew YouTube channel co-founder Brandon Laatsch (who was working on it independently), but the project was recently halted by Mojang. Perhaps this WB movie is why.

Can you imagine a live action ‘Minecraft’ movie having potential for box office success?

Minecraft follows in a recent line of game-to-film adaptations, including next month’s Need For Speed and the upcoming Warcraft movie.

The Lego Movie has been a big hit for WB, so it’s no surprise that they’re looking at other brick/video game-esque worlds to bring to life. The yellow bricks have scored the studio $279 million worldwide since its early February opening.

Thanks, Deadline.

Humble WB Bundle available now, features more

January 31st, 2016 by

by Anna Roberts

Humble Bundles allow gamers to pay whatever they want for a bundle of games, and this time it is the turn of Warner Bros. games. Six titles are included in the Humble WB Bundle, including Batman titles Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.

The Humble WB Bundle, available for the next two weeks, allows you to choose a price for the Game of the Year edition of Batman: Arkham Asylum, F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, F.E.A.R. 3 and The Lord of the Rings: War in the North.

If you pay above the average (which currently lies around $4.65), you’ll also get Scribblenauts Unlimited and Batman: Arkham City (Game of the Year edition).

This is a great deal for this group of Warner Bros. games; If you wanted to purchase the games separately it would cost you around $120.

Furthermore, you can choose the proportion of your payment that goes to WB Games, charity, or Humble Bundle themselves. The charity for this bundle is We Can Be Heroes, DC Entertainment’s charity who works with Save the Children, IRC and MercyCorps.

It’s worth noting that this Humble Bundle is only available for Windows, with the exception of Batman: Arkham City, which also runs on Mac.

The bundle has launched following the release of the latest Batman title, Arkham Origins, which has received mixed reviews, certainly in comparison to the acclaim that accompanied the release of the other two titles in the series.

While you’re taking a look at the Humble Bundle website, it’s worth having a glance at the weekly sale. This week’s sale is from Team 17 and includes Worms Armageddon and Worms Revolution.

Humble Bundle helped lead the resurgence in indie gaming with a series of bundles of indie games available for whatever price you, the consumer, decide they’re worth.

Will you be buying the Humble WB Bundle?
