It has been revealed that the UK games retailer GAME will not carry Mass Effect 3 or any other game published by Electronic Arts after SSX.
An internal memo obtained by Eurogamer shows the struggling company will not carry upcoming EA titles like FIFA Street, Tiger Woods 13 and Sims 3 Showtime along with Mass Effect 3.
“Last week we held an event for our publishers in the industry and explained the challenges we are facing in the short term – and we asked for their support,” wrote GAME channel director Tom Devine. “We will not stock products if the terms are not right for our business – a position we believe is critical to our long term health as a business – we have taken the very difficult decision to not stock EA’s March releases, including Mass Effect 3.”
The retailer will be issuing cash refunds to those who preordered the title. A “goodwill gesture” of ?5 in Reward Points will also be offered through March 16.
