Pottermore coming to Playstation Home in mini game, more

by Andrew Sims

Pottermore and Playstation have announced that a version of J.K. Rowling’s website will arrive on the Playstation Home with new activities and an expansion of the dueling feature.

Arriving in April 2015, Sony describes Pottermore on Playstation Home as a “unique free online gaming community where you can play, socialize with thousands of gamers from around the world and discover new PlayStation experiences.”

The trailer outlines the following features:

- “Step inside the world of Harry Potter as you’ve never seen it before” – “Begin your journey in Diagon Alley” – “Experience the mayhem of Book Herding” (a game where you round up pesky books) – “Link to your account to share Pottermore Trading Cards” – “Board the Hogwarts Express” – “Challenge your friends to a Wizard’s Duel” – “Test your knowledge with a Pottermore quiz”

Footage shows you’re able to walk around Diagon Alley at your own free will, though it’s unclear how much of the virtual world you can explore. Watch the trailer:

Details are still scarce, but we’ll keep an eye on this and update you with more information as it’s unveiled.

While this isn’t a true Harry Potter MMORPG, this looks like it may be as close as we’ll be able to get for now. We’d love for this to be a very deep online gaming experience, but at this time it doesn’t look to be very detail-oriented. Rather, it provides a 3D-like way to experience a few of’s features.
